artist crush | paul octavious

I stumbled upon the photography of Paul Octavious while browsing the blog of another amazing artist, Lisa Congdon.  Paul is a photographer + designer living in Chi-town. I am obsessed with his work, particularly his images created using stacks of books.

This last print is titled "51 Love Stories" and I LOVE it.  It's officially "Fat Tuesday" and instead of indulging in food, I'm indulging myself with this yummy print.

stationery inspiration | modern wedding cake

I had a deadline this morning for one of my partners, wedding paper divas. I was showing my oldest son some of my submissions and he asked me, "how do you keep coming up with different ideas, isn't it hard?".  I guess if you are a designer, this question is a no-brainer...we don't run out of ideas because we are constantly inspired by EVERYTHING we see.   For my latest batch of designs, I bookmarked this beautiful wedding cake because it caught my attention on pinterest.

After staring at this beautiful cake long enough, I translated this cake design into this stationery design.  I personally love it but I'll have to see if it makes "the cut". Fingers and toes are crossed :).

abc's on the kitchen wall

My littlest peanut, Parker,  JUST turned four (this Sunday). He is very interested in printing the letters in his name. We have purchased markers, pencils, crayons and loads of  papers to encourage his "writing". However, his favorite spot to write has become the chalkboard stickers in the kitchen. Thanks Wall Candy Arts for a making a great product!

on trend mondays

I work hard at trying to stay "on trend" and pride myself in the fact that I try to stay a step ahead of the curve. I love it when I see a design/trend emerge months after I've applied it to something...it just validates my efforts of trying to stay on top of things in this ever changing world of design! Here is a holiday card I designed for tinyprints in 2010:

And look at this beautiful bedding I found while browsing the spring catalog at Crate & Barrel :

feeling inspired | triangles

I'm addicted to pinterest....may actually need a 12 step program fairly soon. It is such an invaluable tool for designers to keep track of inspiration. Currently, I am obsessed with triangles.

If you're on pinterest....please comment on my page so I can follow you!

elm and gray at the atlanta international gift market

I was browsing the facebook page of one of my new partners, oopsy daisy, and spotted some pictures of  their showroom at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Market.  After looking a little closer I saw an adorable display showcasing three of my new designs for them! It is so thrilling to see my work in action. Thanks to oopsy daisy for making my designs SHINE on their awesome products!
